Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9) · Science
Chemical reactions
Pupils investigate chemical reactions, identifying reactants and products, recognising combustion, oxidation, thermal decomposition and displacement reactions, and balancing simple equations. They study energy changes in reactions, reaction rates and factors that affect them, such as concentration, temperature and surface area. Laboratory skills include observing and recording reaction evidence and measuring rates.
