GCSE (Years 10–11) · Science
Bonding, structure and properties of matter
Pupils study ionic, covalent and metallic bonding, giant and simple molecular structures, and how bonding and structure determine physical properties such as melting point, conductivity and solubility; they also cover allotropes of carbon and polymers. They develop skills in drawing dot-and-cross diagrams and explaining macroscopic behaviour from microscopic models.
